Youth Empowerment Solutions (YES)
SRSLY’s Program for Youth
The 2011 – 2012 Session of the YES Program starts at Beach Middle School in
November. If you are a middle school student or parent interested in participating,
email rcurran@srslychelsea.org by October 31st to sign up.
The YES Program is designed to help youth in Chelsea develop the skills they need to create positive change in their community, including:
•Teamwork & Leadership
•Community Assessment
•Program Planning, Implementation and Evaluation
During YES, youth learn from SRSLY members and staff about community-level, primary prevention. Participants get to meet and interact with local leaders from business, health care, city government, and the non-profit sector. Working with their peers, they learn how to identify risk factor and protective factors in the community, and how they influence youth substance abuse. As part of a team, youth participate in the planning and implementation of a new or existing SRSLY project. Follow project completion, teams measure and celebrate their success.
