With prom coming up for Chelsea High School in a few weeks, SRSLY has once again gone out into the community for Project Sticker Shock.
Project Sticker Shock is a community awareness campaign designed to educate adults who might purchase alcohol and illegally provide it to minors. The project unites youth, business owners, parents and law enforcement in a partnership striving for a common goal: to reduce underage drinking.
Thanks to Mrs. McCalla’s leadership class at Beach Middle School and the Chelsea Police for helping us with Project Sticker Shock this week! On Tuesday, the students went to eight Chelsea-area business to put up bright green stickers and posters that state, “It is illegal for any person 21 or older to purchase/provide alcohol to minors. Fines are up to $2,500 or 1 year in jail. SRSLYchelsea.org”
These students put stickers on cases of beer and wine coolers, and offered them to staff to wear for the day. They also put up posters in store entryways to help increase awareness and demonstrate each business’s commitment to keeping alcohol out of the hands of minors.
Thank you to Reddeman Farms Golf Club, Arctic Breakaway, Jet’s Pizza, Thompson’s Pizzeria, CVS, Waterloo Village Market, Shell gas station, and Marathon gas station for helping to keep our youth safe this prom season.
