Chelsea youth don’t have time for drugs & alcohol – they’re too busy spending time with family, playing sports, and trying to achieve their goals! These positive influences are all “anti-drugs,” or things that keep youth away from drugs & alcohol.
Every year during National Red Ribbon Week, SRSLY asks Chelsea students to identify their anti-drugs and share them in our What’s Your Anti-Drug? Media Contest. Students in 5th-8th grade are invited to submit any type of media (including posters, poems, videos, and comics) for a chance to win a gift card.
SRSLY once again received dozens of fantastic entries this year! SRSLY members voted on their favorites at a recent meeting and chose the winners for each grade. Congratulations to the following:
5th Grade Winners:
6th Grade Winners:
7th & 8th Grade Winners:
Thank you to everyone who entered to contest! Another big thank you to the Beach Middle School & South Meadows Elementary School teachers who welcomed SRSLY into their classrooms to talk to students about their anti-drugs.
Studies show that positive family involvement and positive involvement in the community are protective factors against youth using alcohol & other drugs. Let’s continue to provide support and opportunities to youth in our community!
